ARTIFACT is an investigation into the processing of materials used in architecture. The revival of the aesthetics of stones and marbles previously employed by renowned Italian architects – Carlo Scarpa, Giò Ponti, Piero Portaluppi, Angelo Mangiarotti – captivates us.
However, we wanted to go beyond and define a contemporary surface that carries traces and memories of natural materials, while also incorporating elements of familiar textures: a process of synthesis and fusion. Not a mere replica, but a synthesis, and thus a product of invention.
We allowed ourselves to experiment with its possibilities through unrestrained exploration of colors and textures, pushing our research beyond the inherent limits of nature to place it within the contemporary context.
